Unsolved Mysteries: Friend of Stephan Ross (Season 2, Episode 10)

Update Gwen Allanson, daughter of Lieutenant Steve Sattler, saw the re-airing of Stephan's story and was certain that her father was the soldier Stephan had been looking for. Sattler was part of the 191st Army Tang Battalion and had often spoken of of the day he'd helped a young boy in Dachau. At the time, however, she was unable to get in touch with Stephan. Years later, Allanson told the story to her niece (also Sattler's granddaughter), Brenda Clark, who decided to search for Stephan. Unsolved Mysteries: The Dale (Season 1, Episode 20)

This segment was prefaced with the following: "In 1973, America was faced with an oil crisis that nearly crippled the country. It created a gas shortage and motorists had to wait hours to fill up their tanks. Consumers wanted a solution: cheaper gas or more economical cars." This revolutionary car was touted as getting 70 miles to the gallon, weighing less than 1000 pounds, and costing less than $2000. More than $300 of the cars price, as well as 3

This program is about unsolved mysteries. Whenever possible, the actual family members and police officials have participated in recreating the events. What you're about to see is not a news broadcast. Yes, I always remembered that opening passage despite not having heard it for a little over a decade between religiously watching and the episodes popping up on YouTube every now and again. I always remembered the address (PO Box 11559, Burbank, CA 91510-1449), and the toll-free number (1-800-876-5353). No, I "Googled" none of this. Also a fun fact: I had several of Keely Shaye Smith's "Update" segments memorized verbatim after only a few listens. My friends found this rather amusing and in high school, I was told by a teacher of mine that I had a very strong narration voice after a presentation of a story I'd written. The truth of the matter was, I was just imagining how Keely would have read it on Unsolved Mysteries (I was not even going to make a s
